Aurora Sport Features

Easy to get on and off for men and women

Removing the top tube from a high power electric bicycle is no easy task, but EVELO engineers have designed the Aurora Sport to offer a low step-through frame, making it easy to get on and off the bike for both men and women. Looking to load up for your next adventure? The step through frame also benefits touring cyclists, making it easy to get on and off your bicycle with a full load of gear on the rear rack. This is the future of eBikes.

Easily ride up any hill

Shimano components have proven themselves to be the most reliable drivetrain components time and time again with nearly a century of manufacturing experience and expertise. The wide-range 7 speed system featured on the Aurora Sport will give you the gear range you need to tackle the steepest hills, and achieve top speeds of over 25mph in off road mode. The grip shifter on the right hand side of the handlebar is comfortable, easy to use, and provides you with accurate shifting, every time.

Quick charge time and up to 45 miles of riding ran

Go the extra mile with EVELO’s top-tier Li-ion cell technology. Our large semi-integrated frame battery offers extended range, and is easily removed for charging on or off your bicycle. With short charge times and up to 45 miles of range for your average rider, you can ride and explore more, and spend less time worrying about when to head back home.

Aurora Hub August 2021

I recently purchased 2 Evelo Aurora Hub bikes as my husband turns 70 this month. My hope was that we could ride and exercise together.
It’s been years since my husband rode his 10 speed Schwinn Le Tour II all over the countryside. Knees, hips and other medical conditions prevented him from getting his leg over the top rail.
The bikes are beautiful, white glove bike shop assembled and delivered are meeting every expectation so far. We are taking our time to experiment with the pedal assist, gear changing and throttle components and ride every day, even if it is for a few miles.
As most of you already understand researching the different electric bike models is challenging. I made my decision on this purchase because of the fantastic customer service I experienced with all questions addressed.

My long awaited Aurora Hub

It was a long wait, but well worth that wait. When I received the bike i was unable to assemble it at that time. I ended up having a local bike shop assemble it. The bike shop handles a couple of other brands ebikes, but were very impressed with the construction of my Aurora. Not long after it was assembled I had two stints placed and I was able to start riding. A little background I am a 79 year old normally active male. However, had cancer surgery April of 2020, have been restricted due to COVID and had two stints placed in April 2021. I live in the eastern foothills of Bakersfield where there is a great deal of large hills to climb. I no longer would be able to ride a normal bike, due to lack of physical activity for over a year and it would be too much stress on my heart. I had hoped the Electric Bike would be the answer. Well it was better than I had expected. I had picked the Aurora Hub because it fit my needs and my physical size. I am 5'7' 170# and it was perfect. The only changes I made are the addition of the C9 seat for more comfort, the security lock, and rear storage bag. I recently added saddle bags and handlebar mirrors. I currently have a electric horn/ alarm horn ordered. Now as for riding I find it fits my wants and needs perfectly. I set the assist on one and ride most of the time using the manual gear selections. However, when it comes to hills I use the electric assist. I try and keep the assist at no more than three, I want to get exercise and not depend on the assist more than necessary. I found often I use the assist without using the lowest gear so that I maintain a more normal pedal pace. I have found there is no situation that I can not learn to adjust the the manual shift and electric assist and not feel comfortable. The ride is very comfortable with the over size tires and adjustable shocks. The controls are easy to use and though I have the manual brakes they work great, even on steep downhill grades. I have found the thumb controlled throttle to very useful when starting out and I need immediate speed to cross a highway safely, when clear. Since I ride using the least amount electric assist necessary, yet maintaining a safe effort, I have found it very easy to ride for an hour and a half or two returning with plenty of power left. That includes riding with the lights on, for safety, at all times. I was very surprised at the shortness of the charging time and learned quickly not to leave it on charge long. I must say I am happy with my Aurora and the only change necessary was the change to a more comfortable seat. All the rest of the additions are just personal preferences, additional safety and security.

Best bike/company

Aurora Hub Drive

After 1240 miles there are no problems with quality. Being 5' 7" tall and an old man, aged 89, I see that the bike is evidently for someone taller. However once on the bike I can go like hell for 20 miles. The first thing to fail is my bony rear end.

Great purchase

Love my Evelo Ebike! As a retired guy I try to go everywhere on my Aurora. Had a great experience with my local bike shop assembling the bike and everyone at Evelo have been behind me on the maintenance (which I've had very little). Love the light setup and the frame platform. It truly is another local errand vehicle for me. Thanks Evelo!

FAQs

Is the Aurora Sport a good choice for me?

The Aurora Hub is a simplified version of our Limited model, with an easy access step-through, and comfortable riding position. The Hub Motor has plenty of power for most riders, and features a cadence sensor for the easiest riding possible if you prefer not too hard. If you plan to climb Mt. Everest on the weekends, you may also want to consider one of our Mid Drive models.

Does the Aurora Sport have enough power for my terrain?

Hub Drive eBikes are slightly less efficient than their Mid Drive motor cousins, but are also significantly less expensive. The Aurora Hub can handle larger riders with ease, and can comfortably climb 8% grade with no pedaling whatsoever. The powerful Hub motor offers ample torque for most riding conditions, and the reliable Shimano drivetrain offers a standard bicycle chain and gears, for a simple and easy to maintain ride.

Will I fit properly on the Aurora Sport?

The Aurora Hub can be adjusted to suit Medium and Larger sized riders.. Take a closer look at our sizing chart and specifications on the product page. A great way to compare this to your existing bike is to measure your current saddle height straight down to the ground - this gives you a real number to compare to the specs on our website. If this measurement is over 35” - the Aurora Hub can remain at the top of your list.
