My husband (@tricyclejoe) bought this trike used in July 2023. He is a stage 4 cancer patient and wanted this bike to assist him if he became fatigued during rides or on windy days. When he bought the bike it had 100 miles on it, and it now has 420 miles. This bike is the one thing keeping him going through his cancer journey, especially with a recent diagnosis of a metastasis to his spine. He is concerned that the battery is going to start to not hold a charge and he will require a new battery. He would also like to see suspension in the seat post but I guess that’s something we could upgrade aftermarket. This bike is a fan favourite at the farmers market and overall versatility for his uses. He rides it all around town. Thank you evelo for making an electric trike that has definitely served its purpose.
I am happy with the purchase it is an ok smaller adult trike. I have been riding a T-326 Husky for sometime I am 6'2" almost 300# man, and I needed a industrial type 26" tire trike not only for weight (600# rated) but for comfort. I have been looking at the Evelo Compass for several years, and when the price hit 3k felt it was worth that price. I am modifying my T-326 for longer runs so I need a second trike for transportation, I can no longer drive for health reasons so is my only way around town. My goal was to have a trike I felt safe leaving town, even the 10 or 20 mile range, and returning. The Evelo Compass is not it, below is my review please remember my size, and to add this is a hilly open area (windy) in all the trike is well built, and probably would serve many very well.
1.) Putting the trike together was very easy, what they don't show is that you will have to air the tires, and charge the battery mine was at 62% tire pressure did not register but there was some. This is not uncommon in all delivered bikes. The pedal assist and or speedometer reader cable on the front fork pulls when the steering is almost full turn I'm a bit concerned this could be a problem in the future. I used wire cutters to cut wire ties etc. I chipped the powder coat on basket pretty easily.
2.) The battery would not charge past 95% I used the charger that came with it, and another that green lit as soon as I plugged it in. The first day I took it .9 of a mile with 2 hills, the lights were on, and it went to 86%, that spooked me a bit. I left the battery plugged in for 24 hrs. It green lit within an hr. and still stayed at 95%.
3.) I had to change seats (I'm a big guy) I prefer solid/single piece seat posts but this one is ok. I had left the battery inside, and checked charge was green lit still showed 95% I went 1.2 miles very flat, and level tried peddle assist (which I like) about half way on throttle. I did get up to full throttle approx. 18 mph for a short distance was at 88% when returned. Also a very calm day (wind really matters).
4.) The differential makes some noise, not bad noise yet it's there. The main reason I purchased this trike was for the differential, but unless you are very agile with the acceleration it makes little difference in the turns. I will leave my T-326 as a single wheel drive.
Summation: This is a very good trike my only complaint is the battery size, and life to include cost. I do have a second coming which will make me feel much more secure using it in town but I would not use it on long hill climbing rides. The motor is torquey it will lift the front wheel if you tap the throttle, but honestly not a whole lot better climbing than my front wheel direct drive which I don't have to worry about chain problems.
Update: I have gone as far as I feel comfortable on a full charge. The percentage jumps up, and down quite a bit, and zeroed at one point using the throttle. Using the throttle really takes a lot of power. It was at 4% when I stopped came back to 13% while I got my camera out. I have seen this in all ebike systems but not quite so much difference. As you can see along way from 20 miles on one battery, on pretty level ground minimal breeze if any. I would say I could probably get maybe 2 more miles but do not feel safe doing so. I will see what the second battery does when delivered it is on back order. Definitely an in town trike, would be great if not for the size, and cost of batteries.
The Evelo Dash is just the e-bike that I wanted; a lightweight folder with a more substantial stature that some of the more notable (and more expensive) lightweight folders on the market. Evelo has achieved the perfect balance to make the e-bike truly ‘portable’ for throwing in the back of the car or in our travel trailer for road trips! The ride is very smooth, shifting is fun and effortless. I can’t say enough for the service team at Evelo; my first bike had some issues and they quickly resolve the issues until finally sending me a new Dash. I’m so appreciative and couldn’t be happier with my purchase.
I would rate this e-bike a 4.5 stars. I think it's easy to recommend. This is my second e-bike, and I'm very pleased with my purchase. There are many positives with the Galaxy SL:
▪️ It's very stable with a comfortable riding position. The bike is perfect for older people or folks with shorter stature. (I'm 5'6” and 61 years old). The step-through frame and size of the bike is great. (My last e-bike had a more traditional diamond frame with a top-tube, but being short and a bit older, I decided it was time to go with a more comfortable and accommodating beach cruiser style with a step-through frame.)
▪️ The mid-drive motor works great for times when you want power assist, but I find I can ride it easily without assistance (until I hit a hill or get lazy.)
▪️ I love the CVT (continuously variable transmission) but it does take some getting used to. At first, I found up-shifting quite difficult, with the twist shifter being very stiff. It turns out the secret to up-shifting is to stop pedaling. Without pressure, it is easy to up-shift (and it's always easy to downshift.) If you aren't familiar with CVT, one of the benefits is that you can shift at a standstill. That makes it great if you neglect to downshift before coming to a stop sign or light. And not having discrete gears makes you feel like you have a little more control over the gear ratio.
▪️ The bike has many included features that are sometimes considered extras on other bikes, such as the nice color display, front and back lights, kickstand, water bottle cage, and rear rack.
▪️ This bike offers a lot for the price. To get the mid-drive motor, CVT, and extras at this price point is a little unusual, but nothing about the bike feels like it cut corners to save money. I feel like I got a great bike for the money!
There are a couple of small things that disappoint just a bit (hence the 4.5-star rating). The seat is very hard. (It's odd that a bike this comfortable has a seat that's not.) Furthermore, the complete lack of any suspension is a bit disappointing. The ride is still quite comfortable thanks to the wide fat tires, but I find I need to be cognizant of potholes or else the ride can be a little jarring. (I may break down and buy the Thudbuster seatpost and more comfortable seat, but I wish those features came with the bike rather than as added accessories.)
At first, I wasn't sure that I was going to like having the battery on the back of the bike (in the rear rack) rather than in the down tube (which makes it a little less evident you're cheating with an electric bike.) But, it's effortless to remove the battery (after unlocking it) from the rear rack, which is handy if, like me, you want or need to charge the battery off the bike versus doing so while it's installed. (By comparison, I found it a little difficult and awkward to remove the down-tube battery in my former e-bike.)
This is not a full Class 3 bike, but it's simple in the settings to remove the Class 2 limiter and get a bit higher top speed. (My old bike did 28 mph pretty easily, and this one tops out more at 25 mph. I don't find I miss the few extra miles per hour.)
A couple of things to know should you buy this bike: There are two switches to turn it on--on the bottom rear of the battery and the power switch on the handlebar controller. Also, note that the thumb throttle won't work unless you have it in power assist mode. (On my last bike, the thumb throttle was always available regardless of power assist setting.)
One last positive to mention: I was very impressed with the care and responsiveness of the team at Evelo as I was deciding. I reached out to a couple of companies to ask questions as I compared models, and the folks at Evelo were quick, helpful, knowledgeable, patient, and caring. It gave me the confidence to buy from this company, and so far, I'm very pleased.
If you have any concerns about assembling the bike, the folks at Evelo offer a “white glove service” (for a small upcharge) where they'll ship the bike to a local bike store for assembly. It seems the bike is easy to assemble, but I preferred to get this done at a nearby bike shop, and it worked just as advertised.
I'm glad I bought the Galaxy SL. My first few rides have been great. I wish the riding season wasn't about to end!
I was debating between a few bikes. I was luckily to have someone let me test ride the Omega locally, before ordering it. When I test rode the Omega, it took me about 5 minutes to get used to the automatic shifting, then I loved the way it felt. The reason I ended up with the Omega is because the bike checks all my checkboxes:
1. Great Support from costumer service even beyond the purchase.
2. comfortable bike with high torque.
3. Theoretically less maintenance.
4. Ability to test ride the bike with the option of free return if the bike doesn’t meet the needs. (I love the bike and kept it 😀)
5. 4 years warranty.
6. speed. It was important for me to have the ability to ride faster than 20 mph (in unlocked mode)
7. Throttle. Even though having a throttle wasn’t important to me prior to purchasing the bike, I find that I use it often when I want a quick “takeoff” after stopping at a light, or a stop sign.
8. Range. It was important to me that the bike range will be able to cover my commute (22 miles round trip) on a single charge, without needing a second battery. Riding economically (low pedal assist) the first 11 miles leaves me with about 80% of battery charge. The return home (11 miles) uses more battery, because I ride it using more pedal assists. I get home with about 40% battery left and charge the battery in the evening.
The bike is great for my commute and I enjoy it very much. The costumer service from Evelo, as others have noted, is incredible. I was in contact with them before and after the purchase of the bike. They are very patient and knowledgeable.
As I mentioned before, it is a great commuter bike.
The mid drive and automatic transmission on this bike is a game changer! It's quiet and powerful, no hills (yet) I couldn't climb. I have a little over 200 miles on it, so still early in my ownership, but along with the torque, speed, and cadence sensors, it makes it very much like riding a non ebike, only with bionic legs! I had to add suspension seat post and handlebar suspension, since this bike didn't come with them. It also didn't come with the 4 hole pattern on the front handlebar post that many bikes have for bolting on a front basket. That is something I would have loved to have and cannot add. It is a great bike however. Support has answered all my questions and they have many help videos to reference. Thank you Evelo!
In the past 30 days I have rode my new Omega 480 miles. I am very happy with the comfort ride and the Enviola automatic transmission
The Omega checks most of the boxes I wanted in my first new e-bike…powerful motor, strong torque for hill climbing, comfortable cruising posture, belt drive, CVT for infinite gear ratios (within a range), hydraulic disc brakes. It also comes with auto-shifting, which I had not heard of before. I was skeptical it would work well and could just get in my way of when I wanted a higher or lower ratio for my desired pedaling performance. But their 3 week trial offer took the risk out of giving it a try. I was quite surprised by how effective it is and how quick it changes right to the gear ratio you need to maintain the specified cadence in the app. It truly is amazing! It takes your mind off shifting as you pedal, freeing your mind to think about riding safely, or enjoying the nature and beauty around you, or on videoing your experience with your action cam.
The main thing missing on the Omega (for my 5th star) was that it has no front fork suspension. I nearly lost control on a ride after hitting a pot hole hard to see in the shade. If they would add this feature, it would be the perfect e-bike. For those who ride where roads are mostly free of hidden obstacles, then the Omega bike is perfect!
Support from Evelo has been stellar! I had a firmware issue with my motor controller display. I contacted their support and they promptly sent out a new controller display for the Dapu motor at no charge! During pre-sales, I got all my questions answered by their team! Thank you and do really enjoy the Omega!
Hands down an excellent experience/purchase-I originally bought a Galaxy Lux. The bike's top-of-the-line technology and an exceptional build was obvious, but the Galaxy Lux frame was/is too smal (I'm 5'9").
I got ahold of Evelo and worked with Thomas and Eric. I had Friday (Aug 2, 2032) off and decided to cross state lines into Washington to pick the new Omega up for the weekend and I'm glad that I made the 3hr drive north. We've got a Gazelle C8 and not only is the Omega of equal quality, it's more intuitive and user friendly. Thanks Eric and the entire Evelo team for an excellent product and top-tier customer service. Thoroughly happy with h the Omega!!

I have had my Atlas for two months and put 400+ miles on it so far. I bought it primarily for year-round urban bike commuting, with casual riding and medium-distance trips as secondary purposes. It has aced the commute over some rough pavement and through (what seems like perpetual) construction. I am loving the front suspension! I've also gone on regular 50-mile round trip jaunts this summer, which I could have done both ways *maybe* on my analog bike.
Since the pandemic began, I went from 70% bike commuting to 95%, filling out the remainder with public transit. My front fender did not fit right without rubbing at first, but Evelo sent me the spacers needed to correct it. As muscular as the front tire looks without that front fender, even a small puddle would get my ankles and feet wet. Never mind water on the street post-big rain. I was soaked from the thighs down within 3 minutes! The fenders are quite effective.
I find myself riding in pedal assist 1 most of the time. Though I have tried 2-5, I only have done this under certain conditions, e.g. at night when no other bikes are around me and I'm in a protected bike lane. Beyond wanting to get exercise from the peddling, the available torque and speed in the higher PAS levels is more than I need on a bicycle. I actually wish you could re-program PAS 1 to 50 or 60% of what it does. PAS 0 is mostly unusable due to the bike's weight, although I do use it when the bike trail goes right through the middle of a botanical garden with pedestrians around. I have been riding motorcycles for 20+ years, so I feel qualified to rev it up when no one is around at night, though.
While I knew I would want to at least change out the stock seat, I didn't know how much of an investment I would be making in all the gadgets, or farkles as we call them in the motorcycling world. I added a cheap replacement seat, a throttle, a mobile phone holder, a rear rack while the Evelo one was on backorder, a taillight extension cable for that rack, a bell, a bar-mounted mirror, a mount for my Beeline Moto, an expensive chain lock, a killer Arkel pannier (much better then Ortlieb!), and as of last night the Evelo rack and a Shotgun Pro bike seat for my kid. The handlebar now looks a bit ridiculous, but hey, I have what I need. I glanced other reviews and read that someone changed out the handlebar on their Atlas, so that's a potential future upgrade. The diameter of the bars varies across different spots, so for instance my bell loosens itself if it slides over. One thing I was happy I did not have to add was a water bottle cage. It even came with an Evelo water bottle :)
In terms of the ride, I really enjoy it. On the downside it is large and heavy, though not as bad as some cheaper and more expensive bikes I had previously considered. I store it downstairs where I live, and it's a chore to get it up and down. If I bring it upstairs to work on it I remove the battery - super easy - to save weight. Oh right, the battery! The battery life is okay, not quite what I had hoped. In PAS 1 with me (~220 lbs.) and my gadgets and gear (another ~30 lbs.), the battery is down to 20-30% by the time I go ONE WAY on that 50-mile trip. Therefore the fast 3A charger that comes with the bike goes into my saddlebag / pannier and gets used. I also bought a fanless 2A charger of the same brand online so I can charge in my office where I need quiet. With two chargers and the ability to take one I have no range anxiety. I could have purchased the rack and second battery when I got the Atlas, but figured the longer trips only occur during warmer months.
Besides the weight and battery, everything else is an upside. I saw a review criticizing the brakes, but have been pleasantly surprised how fast it stops. This comes in handy when pedestrians walk across bike lanes with their nose in their phone. Ask me how I know :( You may also find reviews talking about the drivetrain noise from earlier Atlas'. Rest assured this bike is super quiet. When riding trails, my bike is so quiet that I sneak up on all the bunnies. They don't notice me coming until they see me four or five feet away. Then they run like h*ll! I have to carefully listen to hear the whine of the Bafang motor over the wind noise generated by my helmet. The belt is so quiet and smooth, and the bike is built like a tank with no rattles present. These are all the qualities - well-made, quiet, low maintenance, mid-drive motor, front suspension, good company support - I had been looking for in an ebike. I had to stretch my budget ~50%, but I was willing to spend enough to get everything I wanted without going into Riese & Müller territory. To me that's the only way to avoid regret. And I have none with this bike. Highly recommended!
Let me start with the comment that when buying an ebike it must meet the requirements of the rider. I'm in the 70+ age group. I'm athletic. I'm am a retired math/ computer science professor and want the ebike to be a perfect match. I can not make a full revolution while peddling. I must use throttle only. The Omega with the Enviolo internal geared hub allows me to start from a stop at the beginning of an incline and move upward at about 6 - 8 mph. This obviously would be different depending on the grade and your weight. I am 235 lbs. and very pleased with the results. This was my 3rd ebike I purchased within 3 months after having an Aventon Sinch and Rad Rover 6+. I have contacted customer support a few times and recieved excellent response. The Evelo staff is very friendly and always helpful. Followup is great. They have earned my respect and would not hesitate to purchase another ebike from them.
It has been over 40 years since I have been on a bicycle. Being older and having had a few medical issues over the past 15 years, I decided I wanted an e-bike. Spent almost 2 years researching, looking, and test riding dozens of e-bike brands and models. Early this year, I discovered Evelo and was really impressed with all the features of the Omega. The Omega ticked all the boxes I was looking for in an e-bike. When it went on sale in April, I ordered my Evelo Omega and the second battery with rear rack. A few days after ordering, my bicycle arrived in perfect condition. Assembly was easy with the included tools and my first ride went well.
I have had my Omega for three months now and it has exceeded all my expectations. The Omega is very comfortable and easy to ride. It took a few miles to get used to the Enviolo automatic transmission and now I am spoiled. The belt drive is so smooth and quiet. I would never get another bicycle without the Enviolo automatic hub and Gates belt drive.
The mid-drive electric motor has plenty of power and the batteries run for a long time. Most of my rides are on mostly flat areas with a few hills. I almost never have to go past level 2 on the motor assist and the throttle is a great help to get going. Been getting about 120 miles on one charge with the dual battery setup.
The Omega is very sturdy and well built. I have had no problems in the first 500 miles of riding.
The only thing I didn't like was the saddle that came with the bike. I found a more comfortable seat and all is well. Did I mention Evelo called a month after I got my bicycle? Their customer service is second to none! We talked about the dual battery system and all my questions were answered.
I'm so happy to be riding again. Thank you Evelo.
While I'm not a bike engineer or mechanic, I rode my first e-bike 15 years ago, and over the ensuing years have owned or experienced more than a dozen different models. While it's true that no machine is perfect, I'd have to pick very small nits to find fault with the Omega. (I did not find the stock seat very comfortable but that was a simple and inexpensive upgrade). I've owned my Omega since the early Spring and have traveled close to 400 miles to date.
While the term "game changer" is cliche, I can't think of a better term to describe the Omega's Enviolo Automatiq shifting system. Even though I've had decades of experience shifting gears, it's a pleasure to let the bike do it automatically, as it does in most cars. On the other hand, it's easy for less experienced family members or friends to just hop on and ride with virtually zero learning curve.
The Omega is also extremely comfortable and stable to ride. With the optional super range system I'm able to ride longer than I ever imagined. I've yet to find a hill here in the mountains where I live that the Omega couldn't conquer with ease.
Also, I can't say enough good things about the company. Support is first rate, and the Evelo team goes above and beyond to keep their customers happy. I found the Omega easy to assemble myself, but Evelo can make assembly arrangements with a local shop if that's your preference.
While the Omega is not inexpensive, I would argue it's one of the better values in the e-bike marketplace with it's trifecta of power, smooth belt mid-drive, and very smart automatic shifting system. (I find the default cadence settings perfect, but they're very customizable with the Enviolo app).
In short, the Omega has proven to be one of the most pleasurable investments I've ever made.
The Atlas has made riding so much fun again. I’ve been a cyclist all my life, and as I’m pushing 70, getting up the 10%+ grade hills in my area got a little difficult on my road bike. I ride mostly for exercise and recreation and use a heart monitor to ensure I’m hitting my target heart rate for maximum benefit. With the Atlas and choice of pedal assist level along with wide 380% range of the Enviolo CVT, I can achieve any level of exercise for virtually any speed independent of wind or grade. Of course, with the pedal assist levels and throttle, you can also ride and never elevate your heart rate or break a sweat.
The Atlas has amazing power. I rarely use any assist level above 1 except on extremely steep grades – I’ve never exceeded level 3 and I’ve never used the throttle. I’m in Colorado now and my rides are on both paved and unimproved roads. The front suspension and large wheels / tires make for a smooth ride. I haven’t hit 100 miles on the odometer yet and my rides have been about 16 miles long. I still have about 75% of the battery capacity at the end of the ride, so I can believe I’d get 60 miles on a full charge.
Yes, compared to the regular bikes you have pedaled, the Atlas is a little larger and heavier. However, it still feels nimble and responsive, and it takes little time to feel comfortable on the bike. I’m 5’ 9” and 160 lbs and the bike fits me well. As I generally pedal at a relatively high cadence, I added “foot fenders” on the pedals (see image) to keep the ball of my foot properly located on the pedal.
I have a technical / engineering background and researched all available e-bike options before selecting the Atlas. For me it’s got the perfect combination of features and components at a very fair price.
Five (5) stars for the bike, two (2) stars for the Zoom brakes that came on my bike, another five (5) stars for the Evelo team for their after purchase care and complete brake (front/rear) replacement (Tektro) to be done at a bike shop near me on 7/18/23.
If you are considering purchasing this bike I would ask Evelo what brakes will be on it. My understanding is the Atlas used to come with Tektro brakes but because of supply chain issues had gone to Zoom.
I've been plagued with brake issues for way too much time in the three (3) months I've owned the bike - mainly soft/to near zero (0) braking that require bleeding air out of them. Also, a rear brake pad spring dislodged and unbeknownst to me was stuck between the brake pad and the rotor causing the pad to prematurely wear and cause metal to metal contact on the rear rotor. Again, team Evelo came to the rescue and replaced the rear rotor and pads.
So, brake issues aside, I ride my mighty Atlas about 1/3 of the time off-road on moderate dirt trails. The bike is large and a way heavier than my pedal mtn bike - it took a while to adjust to the size and weight of the bike - I'm a 6'5", 220lb rider. I purchased the throttle for my bike so I have three option when riding it. Pedal only, pedal assist or throttle. There is a wide range of pedal assist and you can zoom along at 25+ mph fairly easily. And hills, boy will it will climb hills. I've yet to find a hill it can't cruise up.
I'm averaging a little over 100 miles per month (it would be higher if not for the soon to be resolved braking issue) and overall I'm loving the the great outdoor adventures this bike is providing me. I'll love it even more when the new Tektro brakes are installed and braking is no longer an issue :). You'll see in the picture that I have replaced the stock handlebars with aftermarket handlebars to accommodate my 6'5" height.
I love the power and response of this bike. I like going fast, and I do, even up hills. I have fibromyalgia so a regular bike isn't good for me on country roads, up and down hills. I've been up to 24 mi/hr going down hills, very happy with the Aurora sport~ oh yeah, got a more comfy seat on amazon.
I wanted a really quiet and a smooth-assisting e-bike and I got it with the Galaxy SL. I am 10 years into Parkinson’s and this bike has turned back the weakening effects of this disease. When I’m on this bike I am a young rider pre-PD again. I was pleasantly surprised at the distance this bike wiil take me on one battery. On mostly level ground assist level 3 I can ride over 50 miles on a charge which is farther than I want to go on one ride. Awesome e-bike. The only thing I would change is the kickstand location. Its center mount location interferes with the pedal rotation adding an unnecessary level of complication to putting it up and away.
Purchased two Aurora Sport E Bikes. So far our experience has been great. The bikes perform as advertised. They are comfortable, powerful and are truly a game changer.
I started with a Bagi e-bike about 4 years ago. That was a good beginner bike for me since being 66 at the time I didn’t want to quit riding. But over time I was looking for a taller bike with a bigger wheel base and tires.
My husband has a Evelo Aries bike he purchased 3 years ago and he loves it so I decided to try an Evelo. The customer service is so excellent at this company! They told me what bike would be best for me to try. They shipped it almost ready to ride. I kept it in my living room so I could stare at it while we had about a month of rain. After a few cadence adjustments, I was so excited to go on my first 20 mile ride. I am loving it!! Because of the caring staff, excellent customer service and exceptional quality of the bike, I would recommend this company to anyone.
Easily built my new Omega after delivery by following the well done Evelo video. Was able to ride it around a little to get brakes setup and calibrate the hub but had to put it up after we got 20 inches of snow! Love the acceleration, comfortable seating position, ride comfort and overall quality of the Omega. The automatic transmission along with the Gates belt give a quiet maintenance free ride. There are many ride settings that make the Omega very flexible to ride in virtually any real time situation. With the second battery option I can ride PAS 5 and zoom zoom everywhere without a care. Can’t wait for warmer weather. The Enviolo App also has a lot of useful info including battery voltage for each cell. This is a top end electric bike.
Of course, ebike performance, features, and price are improving on a monthly basis, but the Evelo Omega is currently at the top of the list.
Battery integrated into the frame, mid drive motor, Gates belt, Enviolo automatic CVT hub, throttle, headlight & brake light really set the Omega apart. The Dapu motor on this model is absolutely silent (we had some noise issues on the Aurora LTD’s). The wider tires provide solid handling on paved and unpaved trails. Battery range appears exceptional with 52% remaining after 30 miles of paved trails in Columbus. There are a few areas that could be improved. The seat needs more padding, a standard rear rack would be nice and the ‘generic’ Zoom hydraulic brake controls don’t have a quality look for this price range (but they do perform well). Overall, very happy with the Omega.
Loving the Atlas so far. It is as responsive as advertised, plenty of get up and go. The throttle, which has had a lag time on other bikes I have had, gives a more instant response which I like. The handling is very good, the tires are just right, not to skinny so I have more confidence in low traction situations like leaves on pavement, not to fat to give unnecessary resistance and weight. The ride being more over the front tire for traction in the dirt would have been great when I was in Moab is not what I want for the Greenway now that I am home, to much weight on hands and arms. A stem riser fixed that, now I am comfortable but I have the option to remove the riser when I go back to mountain biking and I will be set for that. All is good with the Atlas.
Ok, I've had my Evelo Aurora Limited now since January and I wanted to get in a lot of bike riding time so that I can give it a proper review............and here it is.
Words that come to mind: JOY, EXCITEMENT, ADVENTURE. This bike has given me all of that and much more.
The assembly was very easy to do, and I was guided by video and printed instructions which were very clear and comprehensive. I'm not very mechanical but even this I was able to do with ease.
I have this bike out every chance I get, I got to board the subways and commuter trains and rode in towns and cities I've never been to or haven't been to in over 30 plus years, and it is fantastic to take on these tours of mine.
Only complaint, and it's very minor, was the saddle, so I swapped it out for a mans ergonomically thick gel saddle and it made a world of difference, now I can be on the bike for hours and not feel discomfort when I get off.
I get lots of questions from people about the bike and I gladly tell them all the features that come with it. Everyone I've spoken with said it's a great looking bike.
I've added quite a bit of accessories, a lot to do with safety, electric horn with 5 sounds, an additional head and tail lamp, cell phone holder for using Google Maps, rear view camera with built in night vision, water bottle and adjustable size cage for any size bottle pretty much, 2 locks, one from Evelo (chain), one Sold Secure gold rated folding lock, 2 trunk bags, one from Evelo and one larger for all day get-away and most recently a motion detector bike alarm. I made it my own!
I've had one minor issue and it was a very simple fix, and Evelo sent me the info on what needed to be done and I was back up and running in 20 minutes.
I can't thank the Evelo team enough for their prompt responses.
Prior to becoming a customer I asked them many questions over a period of time, and they took the time to explain things to me. I'm grateful that they did that and here I am, an Evelo customer.
I highly recommend this bike to anyone looking to get an Ebike. This bike is built solid and has great craftsmanship, great looks and also it has a 4 year 20,000 mile warranty which nobody else offers which gives me piece of mind.
I love this bike, I love riding it and I like the looks I get when I ride out on the bike paths, rail trails and streets.
Thank you Evelo!
First of all, I am receiving no benefit from Evelo with respect to making this review. I am not a professional e-bike reviewer or affiliate of Evelo. This is solely my opinion based on my real-life experience. I have had the chance to put 100 miles on the Atlas and I am loving it.
- RIDE QUALITY: With the front suspension and the 2.8" tires the ride is super comfortable and secure. I have taken the Atlas on some dirt, gravel and rooty trails and it performs unbelievable well. The Schwable Super Moto X tires are pretty darn good on most surfaces, but they are not designed for more rugged off-road use. I will put some Schwalbe G-One All Around Gravel tires on my Atlas and report back to y'all on the handling of them versus the Super Motos.
- Bafang M600 MOTOR: The motor on this bike is very powerful and easily takes me up some pretty short and steep hills here in Houston. Yes, there are hills in Texas!!!! I have yet to access the full power of this motor. I will test that hopefully soon with some bigger and steeper hills. The motor does make some noise, but I think it is very quiet for the power it puts out.
- BATTERY LIFE: I have gotten nearly 50 miles on one battery charge with 62% of the battery life still available and I am no fly weight at 180lbs!!!! This bike does pedal pretty easily without any motor assist, which will allow you to conserve on battery use if you are looking to put in a long day in the saddle or do bike touring. Once I get the secondary batter system set up, I bet I will be able to get 125 plus miles in a day.
BRAKES: The brakes are doing a great job. I have no complaints with the brakes. These dual piston brakes stop you on a dime, in fact, you need to be careful or you could skid too often and wear down the rear tire prematurely. That's how good these brakes are!!! They are performing just as well as the high performance Shimano brakes on my other bikes.
- CUSTOMER SERVICE: Evelo's customer service continues to be very responsive, caring and professional. They are the best. Their bikes are not the cheapest out there, but the quality of build, warranty and service are worth the investment. I have read about the nightmares people go through with those "cheaper" e-bike companies with lack of quality, terrible response times and very poor level of customer service. Evelo is a dream experience compared to most other e-bike companies.
Now that we’ve had some decent weather I’ve been able to spend more time on the trike. Having the throttle is a real bonus when I find myself at the bottom of a hill. The Pedal Assist levels I’ve just started testing. I found that Level 3 was a bit fast initially. Having the rear differential makes it feel so stable when turning although I do keep the speed in check.
Recently I got myself in a pickle going down a trail to the beach and discovering there was no place to turn around. With some judicious use of the throttle I was eventually able to turn it around. Having a reverse gear would have been better. Now I just send my two wheeled friends to check things out.
I use the trike as my everyday driver. I have a waterproof container with a lid in the rear basket that I use for grocery shopping, carrying equipment for meetings, etc. I’m planning on propping the container up a bit so I can have two levels for goods. Then I will make a waterproof cover for the whole basket.
With the balance issues I have I would certainly recommend this trike. It’s very well built and always attracts lots of attention. My cat will be riding with me soon too.
During the process of getting the trike into Canada from Seattle I had exemplary service from all the people I spoke with at Evelo. And the missing cover was shipped at no cost right away. I had a good feeling about this company right from the start & so far I haven’t been disappointed. They will take care of you. I just wish they would export them to Canada. I did lots of research before choosing the Evelo Compass but couldn’t find anything in Canada that met my requirements. I would buy it again.🤓
