Battery lock broke, replacement works fine

The lock mechanism on my 2 year old Omega broke so I couldn’t drop the battery for charging. I realize it’s easy to charge the battery in the bike, but It gets real hot in my garage and I worry for the health of my battery is subjected to such warm conditions. I ordered a replacement lock and went to install the new one. With the lock broken, I was stymied as to how to drop the battery so that the broken mechanism can be removed and the new one installed. I couldn’t find a video on how to do this so I followed the directions sent to me. It involved pounding a screwdriver into the old lock and turning it to release the lock. This didn’t work well for me and I ended up scratching the heck out of the hole the lock is exposed in. Even after that there were several screws to remove that were hard to get to. In the end, I was able to get the lock replaced and it’s working as expected.
