The Evelo Dash is just the e-bike that I wanted; a lightweight folder with a more substantial stature that some of the more notable (and more expensive) lightweight folders on the market. Evelo has achieved the perfect balance to make the e-bike truly ‘portable’ for throwing in the back of the car or in our travel trailer for road trips! The ride is very smooth, shifting is fun and effortless. I can’t say enough for the service team at Evelo; my first bike had some issues and they quickly resolve the issues until finally sending me a new Dash. I’m so appreciative and couldn’t be happier with my purchase.
I would rate this e-bike a 4.5 stars. I think it's easy to recommend. This is my second e-bike, and I'm very pleased with my purchase. There are many positives with the Galaxy SL:
▪️ It's very stable with a comfortable riding position. The bike is perfect for older people or folks with shorter stature. (I'm 5'6” and 61 years old). The step-through frame and size of the bike is great. (My last e-bike had a more traditional diamond frame with a top-tube, but being short and a bit older, I decided it was time to go with a more comfortable and accommodating beach cruiser style with a step-through frame.)
▪️ The mid-drive motor works great for times when you want power assist, but I find I can ride it easily without assistance (until I hit a hill or get lazy.)
▪️ I love the CVT (continuously variable transmission) but it does take some getting used to. At first, I found up-shifting quite difficult, with the twist shifter being very stiff. It turns out the secret to up-shifting is to stop pedaling. Without pressure, it is easy to up-shift (and it's always easy to downshift.) If you aren't familiar with CVT, one of the benefits is that you can shift at a standstill. That makes it great if you neglect to downshift before coming to a stop sign or light. And not having discrete gears makes you feel like you have a little more control over the gear ratio.
▪️ The bike has many included features that are sometimes considered extras on other bikes, such as the nice color display, front and back lights, kickstand, water bottle cage, and rear rack.
▪️ This bike offers a lot for the price. To get the mid-drive motor, CVT, and extras at this price point is a little unusual, but nothing about the bike feels like it cut corners to save money. I feel like I got a great bike for the money!
There are a couple of small things that disappoint just a bit (hence the 4.5-star rating). The seat is very hard. (It's odd that a bike this comfortable has a seat that's not.) Furthermore, the complete lack of any suspension is a bit disappointing. The ride is still quite comfortable thanks to the wide fat tires, but I find I need to be cognizant of potholes or else the ride can be a little jarring. (I may break down and buy the Thudbuster seatpost and more comfortable seat, but I wish those features came with the bike rather than as added accessories.)
At first, I wasn't sure that I was going to like having the battery on the back of the bike (in the rear rack) rather than in the down tube (which makes it a little less evident you're cheating with an electric bike.) But, it's effortless to remove the battery (after unlocking it) from the rear rack, which is handy if, like me, you want or need to charge the battery off the bike versus doing so while it's installed. (By comparison, I found it a little difficult and awkward to remove the down-tube battery in my former e-bike.)
This is not a full Class 3 bike, but it's simple in the settings to remove the Class 2 limiter and get a bit higher top speed. (My old bike did 28 mph pretty easily, and this one tops out more at 25 mph. I don't find I miss the few extra miles per hour.)
A couple of things to know should you buy this bike: There are two switches to turn it on--on the bottom rear of the battery and the power switch on the handlebar controller. Also, note that the thumb throttle won't work unless you have it in power assist mode. (On my last bike, the thumb throttle was always available regardless of power assist setting.)
One last positive to mention: I was very impressed with the care and responsiveness of the team at Evelo as I was deciding. I reached out to a couple of companies to ask questions as I compared models, and the folks at Evelo were quick, helpful, knowledgeable, patient, and caring. It gave me the confidence to buy from this company, and so far, I'm very pleased.
If you have any concerns about assembling the bike, the folks at Evelo offer a “white glove service” (for a small upcharge) where they'll ship the bike to a local bike store for assembly. It seems the bike is easy to assemble, but I preferred to get this done at a nearby bike shop, and it worked just as advertised.
I'm glad I bought the Galaxy SL. My first few rides have been great. I wish the riding season wasn't about to end!
Received this replacement fender free of charge after I was involved in a minor collision with a motor vehicle. This was very nice of the EVELO dealership and speaks to their excellent customer service.
After riding the bike 200miles so far it performs flawlessly. I’m still on the fence about the wider tires but it handled a gravel “rails to trail” wonderfully although shakes a little when riding without holding the handle. The bafang motor is whisper quiet and powerful but the throttle lacks in forcefulness on a dry start compared to other bafang throttles I’ve tried. I like the throttle if I’m stopped at a road crossing and want to get across quickly. The one size fits all design fits me very well at 6’1” and 230lbs. With the extended battery I rode 80 miles on a gravel trail with 30% remaining on level 1. On the way back I used level 2 and 3 which completely drained the battery at 80miles. Over all a 4.5 out of 5.
You guys took proper steps to fix the problem with the difficulty in locking/ unlocking the battery. Your service team has been so responsive, I’m so appreciative that Evelo stands by their product like no other…
everything works perfectly again and prompt delivery, thank you, love my bike, very hilly where I am and works great.
Essentially I Love it, Now for some constructive criticism.
I’d like to and gladly pay for a comprehensive manual that at least gives basic information like how to adjust shock pressure with a weight chart. How to adjust belt tension, rebound etc. How to add hydraulic fluid. Simple stuff I know and support has been VERY helpful.
Thanks for a great product. Tom
I use a suspension seat post and padded shorts, and still had pain with the prior bike saddle, which was a comfort version. The tractor saddle eliminates that suffering, although it presses a little more than I like on the ligaments on the inside of my thighs, it's a small sacrifice to make for overall butt comfort!
I was debating between a few bikes. I was luckily to have someone let me test ride the Omega locally, before ordering it. When I test rode the Omega, it took me about 5 minutes to get used to the automatic shifting, then I loved the way it felt. The reason I ended up with the Omega is because the bike checks all my checkboxes:
1. Great Support from costumer service even beyond the purchase.
2. comfortable bike with high torque.
3. Theoretically less maintenance.
4. Ability to test ride the bike with the option of free return if the bike doesn’t meet the needs. (I love the bike and kept it 😀)
5. 4 years warranty.
6. speed. It was important for me to have the ability to ride faster than 20 mph (in unlocked mode)
7. Throttle. Even though having a throttle wasn’t important to me prior to purchasing the bike, I find that I use it often when I want a quick “takeoff” after stopping at a light, or a stop sign.
8. Range. It was important to me that the bike range will be able to cover my commute (22 miles round trip) on a single charge, without needing a second battery. Riding economically (low pedal assist) the first 11 miles leaves me with about 80% of battery charge. The return home (11 miles) uses more battery, because I ride it using more pedal assists. I get home with about 40% battery left and charge the battery in the evening.
The bike is great for my commute and I enjoy it very much. The costumer service from Evelo, as others have noted, is incredible. I was in contact with them before and after the purchase of the bike. They are very patient and knowledgeable.
As I mentioned before, it is a great commuter bike.
My Omega is the most AWESOME bike I have ever owned. Being almost seventy it has opened the world of biking back to me again. I LOVE it.
Had an issue with my Atlas turning on. Evelo Support immediately sent me a new display and that solved the problem.
Moving the rear light to the back of my rear rack was a simple task.

This is truly an amazing bike! I am 72 yrs old, 260 lbs, and am recovering from my 4th major leg joint replacement surgery (2 hips, 2 knees - final knee done in January. My heavy weight is due to "forced inactivity" due to pre-surgery pain, surgeries, post-op recovery). Got this bike a little over 1 month ago, have put 140 miles on it despite many days being "too hot to ride," and have begun to loose some un-wanted lbs. I shopped the internet for weeks before finding this bike. I had decided on 3 different ebikes, shifting my choice back and forth multiple times between them each time I read reviews - almost ordered one of the 3 multiple times when I happened on this one. Upon reading about the Omega I thought "This is too good to be true!" Happily, I'm now here to say "IT IS NOT!" I am a very experienced (though fairly aged) bicyclist (racing style, road and gravel style, and mountain bike style) and I am so thankful that I found this one before buying! I love everything about this bike, and am especially enamoured by the automatic shifting (thought I might not like it since I enjoyed shifting on my other bikes) and the customer care department of Evelo! To shorten this story, I LOVE the auto shifting (I'm in awe wondering "How does it do that?"), and continue to receive very thoughtful and helpful correspondence from Evelo personnel! What company does that? I also LOVE the looks, build, upright riding posture (wasn't so sure about that one either until I rode it), read-out display, near silent belt drive - EVERYTHING! Though I've been concentrating hard to find something not quite to my liking, it ain't happened yet! Thank you, folks at Evelo! My sincere advice - GET THIS BIKE!!
Great Ebike. Most fun riding with the hot wind blowing at your face and enjoying the sunlight!
